Pune: Four employees of Bajaj Auto’s factory at Waluj in Aurangabad have reportedly died of COVID-19.
According to sources, the victims had underlying conditions of diabetes and hypertension. More than 200 people employed at the factory have tested corona positive so far.
The plant is Bajaj’s biggest and has over 8,100 employees and contractors. It resumed operations in April.
“All necessary measures for testing, contact tracing, self-isolation and complete sanitation has been undertaken as per protocol,” the company said in a statement.
The plant is not being closed, clarified Bajaj.
Earlier, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd had reported positive coronavirus cases leading to temporary shutdowns.
