Balasore: A four-month-old baby boy was rescued from the house of a BJD councillor at Remuna in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday following allegation that the child was kept there illegally.
Sources said Child Line officials rescued the baby from the house of BJD the councillor of ward number 11 in Remuna. It was alleged that the daughter of the councillor kept the infant hidden with her in an illegal manner.
Based on a complaint lodged by a former sarpanch, the district Collector had ordered quick steps to rescue baby.
Armed with the official order, a team of the child welfare committee ICWC) and police personnel conducted a raid at the house of the councillor, identified as Panamani Murmu, and rescued the baby.
Though the councillor’s daughter claimed that she had adopted the baby, she failed to show any document regarding adoption of the child, sources said, adding that the baby was taken by the CWC for safe custody.
