Baripada: Four students reportedly drowned during Ganesh idol immersion in Odisha’s Baripada on Friday.
While two of them were rescued by fire services, remaining two are yet to be traced.
According to sources, the mishap occurred in Subarnarekha canal at Laxmiposi under Bhanjpur police limits. The students stayed at a mess in the locality and had gone to immerse Ganesh idol in the canal. The four students lot their balance and slipped into the canal. Locals attempted a rescue but failed and alerted the Fire Service. The rescuers pulled out two students and search for the other two was on till last reports came in.
Sources added that they are Class XII students of Ranibhol Adarsha Vidyalaya school.
