Bhubaneswar: The COVID toll in Odisha touched 8,455 on Tuesday with two more patients succumbing to the disease.
According to the Health Department, a 40-year-old man of Bhubaneswar was one of the victims. He had undergone kidney transplantation.
A 72-year-old woman of Ganjam district, who was also suffering from diabetes mellitus and hypertension, also lost the battle to COVID.
The state had reported one death each on Monday and Sunday.
The state has so far reported 6,579 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.
There were 80 casualties in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed 48 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
