Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government plans to raze 410 government quarters at Unit-2 in Bhubaneswar for redevelopment under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said this in a written reply in the Assembly on Monday in response to a question from Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati on the status of government quarters in the state capital. Bahinipati sought to know the number of government quarters in Bhubaneswar in 2010, their number in 2022, how many have been demolished, how many will be demolished, the reason for demolition and how many quarters were lying vacant.
In response, the government said that there were 11,348 quarters in 2010 under the General Administration and Public Grievance Department. Currently, there are 11,374 quarters under the department, factoring in the demolition of 148 old quarters and construction of 174 new quarters.
A total of 124 quarters were lying vacant in Unit-2, which were yet to be allotted, the government said.
