New Delhi: An addition of 48,916 positive cases in the last 24 hours took India’s COVID-19 tally past the 13 lakh to 13,36,861 on Saturday.
A total of 757 people succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours that took the country’s death toll to 31,358, the Union Health Ministry informed.
On a positive note, 34,602 COVID-19 patients have been discharged in last 24 hours. Besides, cumulative recovered cases (8,49,431) have surpassed active cases by 3,93,360.
Also, India’s recovery rate has improved to 63.54 per cent. The fatality rate of cases though remains 2.38 per cent and is observed falling progressively, according to a PIB release.
The number of COVID-19 sample testing labs has increased to 1301 including 399 private labs. There are 657 RT-PCR based testing labs, including 256 private labs. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,58,49,068 COVID-19 samples have been tested so far, including 4,20,898 on Friday.
