Paris: France will start offering a fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose for all those above 80 years of age from March 14.
Israel was the first country to give its citizens a fourth dose of the vaccine from January, while Denmark followed suit.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex said during an interview with the Le Parisien daily that the vaccination drive will be extended to those with an immunocompromised system.
Out of the 4.1 million in France who are over 80, 3.1 million have already received the third booter dose.
Despite a surge in COVID-positive cases in France — over 72,000 new infections were reported on Saturday – the government is set to relax COVID restrictions from Monday, reported ANI/Xinhua.
The vaccine pass requirement to enter public spaces and indoor mask mandate are being removed.
The PM, however, strongly recommended that fragile people should keep the mask on in indoor and crowded areas.
