Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been ranked second with Madhya Pradesh adjudged as the Best State at the 4th National Water Awards, 2022, announced by Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD &GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Andhra Pradesh and Bihar are the joint third winner in this category.
Similarly, the award for the Best District will be conferred on Odisha’s Ganjam, while 2nd prize will go to Namakkal in Tamil Nadu and 3rd prize to Adilabad, Telangana.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will felicitate the winners on June 17 at an award distribution ceremony being organised at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, in New Delhi.
As part of the ongoing nationwide drive to realise the government’s vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’ or ‘Water Prosperous India’, the awards focus on encouraging the good work and efforts made by various individuals and organisations. It seeks to create awareness among people about the importance of water and motivate them to adopt best water use practices. The event provides an opportunity to all people and organisations to forge a strong partnership and further strengthen public participation in water resource conservation and management activities, a PIB release said.
