Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested a gang of 5 highway robbers from a deserted place in Odisha capital late Sunday night.
According to sources, a team from Infovalley police station in Bhubaneswar spotted the gang during a night patrolling at Badapokhari near Gohira Chhak. Suspecting that the 5 persons were engaged in criminal activities, the police conducted a raid and caught hold of them.
The police team recovered a sword, another sharp weapon, a steel pipe, an iron rod, two bottles of liquor, chilly powder and 2 motorcycles from their possession. After their arrest, the five persons admitted to the police that they were planning to loot the vehicles plying on the National Highway.
The police produced the arrested persons in court on Monday.
