Bhubaneswar: A Continuing Medical Education (CME)-cum-workshop on ‘Semen Analysis Made Easy: Manual and Automatic’ was held at Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Saturday.
Around 50 participants attended the CME, organised by the Centre for Human Reproduction (CHR) in association with the Odisha chapter of Indian Fertility Society.
The first session of the CME was addressed by Head of CHR Prof. (Dr) Sujata Pradhan, in the presence of Medical Superintendent IMS & SUM Hospital Prof. (Dr) Pusparaj Samantasinhar and IFS Odisha chapter Secretary Dr Akshay Kumar Mohapatro.
A brainstorming session on Conventional Semen Analysis as per World Health Organisation (WHO) protocol followed. Senior Embryologist at CHR Dr Chidananada Dash addressed the session, while Sales Head of ADVY Chemicals Subhankar Das spoke about semen analysis using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automatic systems.
The programme concluded with a workshop on manual and automated semen analysis, emphasising on standardisation of the procedure and promotion of correct practice.
