50 Maoist Supporters Surrender Before DGP In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a major achievement for Odisha police in desisting people from the path of violence, 50 Maoist supporters surrendered in Malkangiri district on Thursday.

The Maoist sympathisers including two women surrendered before Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal during his visit to Swabhiman Anchal in the district.

Welcoming the surrendered members, the DGP called upon others, who have joined the banned outfit, to return to the mainstream society.

The surrendered Maoist members will be given the compensation and rehabilitation package as per the policy of the Odisha government, sources said.

During his visit to the BSF camp at Jantri in Swabhiman Anchal on the border with Andhra Pradesh, Bansal interacted with security personnel and took stock of security arrangements discussion with the officers of BSF and COBRA Battalion.

Senior police officers including additional DG, Crime Branch Sanjib Panda, IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur and DIG Rajesh Pandit participated in the discussion.

Later, the DGP also inaugurated the new building of the Mathili police station.
