Bhubaneswar: USA’s Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has accredited six engineering programmes of KIIT Deemed to be University for six years.
ABET, regarded as ‘Gold standard’ for engineering education, assures that programmes meet standards which produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce.
The B.Tech programmes at KIIT-DU that have been accredited by ABET are — B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering (accredited by both ABET’s CAC & EAC Commissions); B.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering; B.Tech Electrical Engineering; B.Tech Electronics & Electrical Engineering; B.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
The B.Tech Civil Engineering programme was accredited in 2022 for six years.
KIIT-DU is in an elite group of institutions that includes renowned universities like Harvard, Cambridge, Stanford, MIT and University of Pennsylvania.
KIIT Joins WTUN
In another significant development, the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN) announced the signing of the Network’s Consortium Collaboration agreement with KIIT. Joining WTUN as a member will help KIIT — among 20 universities in the world — provide its students numerous opportunities, including participation in global competitions, the chance to win the Brian Cantor Scholarship Prize 2023-24, hackathons and exchange programmes.
KIIT in AICMRH
KIIT has also got approval of the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH) under the SPARC Scheme by the Indian government’s Ministry of Education.
The hub’s focus areas include critical mineral extraction, processing, criticality assessments, economic geology, sustainable mining practices, and supply chain analyses.
KIIT is among 17 Indian institutions and 11 Australian institutions involved in this programme.
KIIT & KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said these recognitions validate the high-quality programmes of KIIT, which effectively prepares students for global careers.
He pointed out that KIIT is the only university in India to have accreditations from both IET, UK and ABET, USA.
