Bhubaneswar: At least six people were killed and many injured in separate lightning strike incidents across Odisha on Sunday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh (each) for family of the victims.
As per the information received so far, 2 people have died in Kendrapada, while one death each took place in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Sonepur districts during the day.
The Chief Minister wished the injured a speedy recovery and said that the state government will bear the expenses for their treatment.
The fresh casualties came a day after nine persons, including a minor boy, were killed in lightning strikes in different parts of the state. the CMO said, while informing about Rs 4 lakh ex gratia each to the next of kin of the deceased.
