Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,141 on Monday with the death of six more persons in the last 24 hours.
Authorities have stated that two of the victims are from Sundargarh districts and one from Cuttack district.
After an official audit, the sources have specified the comorbidites the victims were suffering from in addition to Covid-19 affliction as follows:
1. A 45-year-old male of Balasore district who was suffering from Hypertension.
2. A 72-year-old male of Boudh district who was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.
3. A 50-year-old male of Cuttack district who was suffering from seizure disorder, Hypertension and Hydrocephalus.
4. A 66-year-old male of Nayagarh who was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease.
5. A 80-year-old male of Sundargarh who was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
6. A 41-year-old male of Sundargarh district.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,257 COVID deaths during the second wave as against 1,876 the previous year.
August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June.
Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), said the sources in Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
