6 Persons In Sadhu Attire Steal Gold Ornament From A Family In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Six persons posing themselves as sadhus took away gold ornament from a family in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

According to sources, the six persons wearing the attire of sadhus and smeared with ash came to Gundicha temple at Raghunathpur village under Nandankanan police limits in the city on Saturday evening.

Pranakrushna Padhiary, a villager, went to meet the sadhus in the temple and interacted with them. The temple management and the villagers arranged dinner for the sadhus who stayed there at night. They told Padhiary that they would visit his house on Sunday morning to have breakfast.

Padhiary made arrangement for serving breakfast to the sadhus in his house on Sunday morning. While the sadhus were having breakfast, Padhiary’s son left his gold necklace on a table and went to bathroom.

After the six sadhus left Padhiary’s house, his son returned from the bathroom and found his necklace worth Rs around Rs 2 lakh missing from the table. Realising that the sadhus were miscreants and had stolen the necklace, Padhiary’s son Rakesh filed a complaint at Nandankanan police station.

Speaking to media, Padhiary said, “On coming to know that some sadhus had come to Gundicha temple, I had gone there to seek their blessings. I talked to them and also had dinner with the sadhus, who had come from Uttar Pradesh.”

“As they had requested, I served breakfast to the sadhus in my house. They also blessed my family and left for Puri. Later, we realised that my son’s gold necklace was missing. Suspecting that the sadhus had taken the ornament, Rakesh filed a police case,” added Padhiary.
