Bhubaneswar: Even as IMD forecast rainfall in several parts of the state till April 5, as many as 6 urban centres registered temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Saturday.
According to regional office of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Balangir town was the hottest places in the state with 42.2 degree Celsius replacing Titlagarh, which topped the temperature chart for the last few days.
Balangir was followed by Titlagarh with 41.7 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 41.5, Sundargarh 40.5, Sonepur 40.2 and Boudh 40 degree Celsius.
The Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were relatively cooler with 34.9 and 34.5 degree Celsius while seaside town Gopalpur continued to record lowest temperature in the state with 29.9 degree Celsius.
The IMD forecast no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state during next 4-5 days. Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 3 to 4 degree Celsius at many places in Interior Odisha and more than 40 degree Celsius at a few places.
The Met office has advised the people to take precautionary measures while going outside during midday from noon to 3 pm.
