Kyiv: Two-and-a-half months into their decision to invade Ukraine, Russian forces are still showing no mercy.
In the latest attack act on civilians, Russian bombardment of a school in the eastern Ukrainian village of Bilohorivka left behind a horrific trail of damage, Reuters reported.
According to the governor of Luhansk region, two people were killed and upto 60 feared buried under the debris.
Governor Serhiy Gaidai said Russian forces dropped a bomb on Saturday afternoon on the school where about 90 people had taken shelter, causing a fire.
“The fire was extinguished after nearly four hours, then the rubble was cleared, and, unfortunately, the bodies of two people were found,” the governor wrote on Telegram.
“Thirty people were evacuated from the rubble, seven of whom were injured. Sixty people were likely to have died under the rubble of buildings,” he claimed.
The news agencies couldn’t verify the exact number of casualties.
The 10-week-old war has killed thousands, destroyed cities and forced 5 million Ukrainians to flee abroad.
