Hathras: Sixty security personnel and eight closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at the house of the 19-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly gang-raped and killed by four upper-caste Thakur men, in her village in Bulgarhi area to ensure her family’s safety, police officers said on Friday.
DIG Shalabh Mathur, who has been sent from Lucknow to Hathras as a nodal officer, told PTI that a control room would also be established here, if needed.
“Sixty personnel, including women, have been deployed on 12 hours shifts for the security of the victim’s family. A gazetted officer will also be deployed to monitor these personnel. With the help of CCTV cameras, the house of the victim will be monitored round-the-clock,” Mathur said.
Hathras Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said that a visitor’s list is also being maintained by the police, and two security personnel have been provided to each family member and witness for their personal security.
“At the main gate of the house, a metal detector has been installed and quick response teams are also in place. With the help of eight CCTV cameras, security is being ensured,” the SP said.
