Berhampur: There was good news for many amid fears of Cyclone Jawad striking the Odisha shores. A total of 66 out of 284 pregnant women delivered children in primary health centres of Ganjam district.
These women were evacuated from their houses in high risk areas after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced districts coming under the cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’.
Ganjam was also one of the worst affected districts but it escaped natures fury with the storm drifting past Gopalpur.
At this crucial time, 66 pregnant women brought their newborn to this world at the primary health centres in the last two days.
The number of pregnant women shifted to primary health centre in different blocks include Aska 11, Beguniapada 19, Buguda 24, Bhanjanagar and Chikiti 3 each, Chhatrapur 19, Dharakote and Digapahandi 6 each, Ganjam 15, Hinjilicut 11, Jagannathprasad , Kabisurjyanagar 18, Kukudakhandi 4, Khallikote 25, Patrapur 5, Polsara 18, Purushottampur 7, Rangeilunda 28, Sanakhemundi 32, Seragada 2 and Sorada 11.
