72.33% Students Clear Annual Plus II Science Exam

Bhubaneswar: The results of the annual Plus II Science Examination were announced on Monday.

A total of 72.33% students have cleared the examination this year, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said while announcing the results at the headquarters of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) at the auditorium of Gita Govinda Bhawan here.

The pass percentage of  Plus II Science this year was lower (4.65%) than the last year, which was 76.98%, the minister added.

Of the 97,750 students, who appeared for the examination, 70,716 have passed. Among them, 20,806 students (29.42%) secured first division, 23,904 (33.81%) second division, 25,360 (35.87%) third division and 636 students have cleared the compartmental examination.

Out of the total number of students who have cleared the examination, 60 students have secured 90 percent and above marks compared to 41 students last year, the minister added.

He further informed that the boys have outnumbered the girls in the examination this year. As against 40,058 boys, 30,648 girls have passed. However, in the percentage wise marks, the girls have secured more (75.02) than the boys (70.04). Last year, 42,886 boys and 30,325 girls had passed the examination.

With regards to district-wise pass results, Balasore has topped the chart with 86.56% with Gajapati at the bottom with a pass percentage of 36.20.

In terms of the performance, the minister said nine colleges have nil results while 29 colleges have cent per cent results. “We will review the performance of the colleges having nil results and take appropriate action,” he added.

Among others, CHSE chairperson Amarendra Patnaik and Controller of Examinations Bijay Kumar Sahu were present.
