76.23% Students Clear Annual HSC Exam In Odisha, Girls Outshine Boys

Cuttack: A total of 76.23% students passed the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE) this year, said School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra on Monday.

This is much below the last year’s result of 85.28%.

Announcing the results at BSE headquarters office here, Patra said of 5,90,367 candidates, who had filled up the form for the examination, 5,76,938 took the examinations while the results of 5,75,065 have been announced. Altogether, 4,38,348 students have cleared the examination and the pass percentage is 76.23, he added.

In terms of grades, 1715 students have secured A1 grade, 15,689 (A2), 39,252 (B1), 68,009 (B2), while 98,947 and 1,27,243 have scored C and D grade respectively.

The minister said going by the number of the pass students, the girls have outshone the boys this year. As against 2,16,305 boys, 2,22,043 girl students have cleared the examination.

With regards to district-wise pass results, Balasore topped the chart with 88.15% with Malkangiri at the bottom with a pass percentage of 59.32.

As many as 36 schools ended with nil results compared to 22 last year, the minister said.

There has been a dip in the number of schools attaining 100% results as it fell from 748 to 429 this year, he added.

Present on the occasion, School and Mass Education secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said the results have been uploaded on the BSE website www.bseodisha.nic.inwww.bseodisha.ac.in. This apart, the results will also be available on www.orissaresults.nic.in.

Students having no internet facilities can get their results through SMS by typing OR10 <ROLL NO> and sending it to 5676750.

Besides, the Board has set up two helpline numbers 0671-2412059/2412060 to receive complaints from the students and guardians.

Apart from the HSC results, the results of the State Open School Certificate examinations were also announced by the minister.

Out of 13,978 candidates had applied for the examinations, 13,387 had appeared of which 5454 candidates have passed with overall pass percentage of 41.93.

While no candidates have secured A1 and A2 grade, 97 candidates have secured B1 and 824 have secured B2 grade.

In Madhyama Examinations, 92.47 percent candidates have passed of which 24 candidates have secured A2 grade while 493 candidates and 959 candidates have secured B1 and B2 grade respectively.

Out of 3959 candidates who had applied for the examinations, 3440 candidates had appeared of which 3181 candidates have passed.
