Rourkela: With the arrest of eight persons and seizure of a huge amount of cash, police on Friday claimed to have busted a major gambling racket in Odisha’s Rourkela.
Acting on a tip-off regarding illegal activities going on at a gambling den in the steel city, a team of police personnel carried out a raid at the place located under the jurisdiction of Raghunathpalli police station, a police official said.
Gambling was in progress at the site and a total of eight persons were nabbed for indulging in illegal activity.
Eight bikes, Rs 66,000 cash, five mobile phones and several other articles were seized from the accused persons, who are being interrogated in order to obtain information about others involved in the gambling racket.
