Jammu: Eight terrorists and two Army soldiers during ongoing operations launched by security forces in Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday afternoon.

Chinar Corps Commander, Chief Secretary of J&K, DGP J&K, and other dignitaries and all ranks paid homage to Lance Naik Pardeep Kumar and Sepoy Pravin Janjal Prabhakar, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Kulgam.

The toll in the twin encounters in Kulgam rose to eight on Sunday as security forces recovered bodies of two more terrorists, officials said. The twin encounters began on Saturday in two villages of Kulgam district. “Bodies of two terrorists were recovered from Modergam encounter site while four bodies of terrorists were recovered from Chinnigam site,” the officials said, according to media reports.

Based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in two different places in the district, the army started a search in the area. It is reported that the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers who came for security inspection in the area last afternoon.

The army initially reported that four terrorists were killed in the encounter. However, the army later clarified that more terrorists were killed.

It is suspected that there are more terrorists in the area. More troops have also reached the spot and intensified search operations. The bodies of the terrorists were recovered during the search conducted using drones.
