Bhubaneswar: Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized more than 800 kg of ganja from a fruits-laden truck proceeding to Bhubaneswar near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border at Krishnavaram.
According to sources, DRI officials intercepted the truck acting on a tip-off and arrested three persons besides seizing the ganja. The consignment weighing more than 808 kg was valued at Rs 1.62 crore.
DRI officials had received information that a huge quantity of cannabis was being transported from Andhra Pradesh to Bhubaneswar in a truck loaded with fruits. The DRI officials were positioned on the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border on Sunday night.
When the DRI officials tried to stop the truck and a car escorting it, the smugglers sped away. DRI officials chased and intercepted the vehicles at the Krishnavaram check-gate on the Andhra-Odisha border.
Following inspection of the truck and car, packets containing more than 808 kg cannabis was seized. The DRI has seized the car and the truck and launched an investigation.
