Bhubaneswar: With heatwave gripping entire Odisha for the last few days, cases of sunstroke and heat-related illness have been reported from 16 districts.
This was stated by Dr Niranjan Mishra, Director, Public Health, while speaking to media on Monday. “We have received reports of 89 cases from 16 districts pertaining to sunstroke and heat-related illness. The affected persons are undergoing treatment in different hospitals,” he said.
Sating that one person has succumbed to the sunstroke in the state this season, Dr Mishra said media reports of other deaths have not been confirmed by the Health department.
While highest number of 41 heat-related cases have been reported from Sundargarh, 12 were from Khurda, 9 from Angul, 7 each from Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda and five cases from Sambalpur, he said.
