Bhubaneswar: Ami fear of spread of Omicron variant and possibility of a third wave, a 96-year-old man, who was suffering from COVID-19, successfully fought the disease following treatment at the SUM Covid Hospital here.
Gadadhar Das of Dumduma area of the city, who had tested COVID positive, was admitted into the hospital on December 20. Das, who was running temperature and had congestion in lungs, was admitted to the ICU and kept on oxygen support.
Das underwent treatment in the hospital for 9 days. Later, his son Dharmananda was also admitted to the hospital after being infected by coronavirus and both recovered from the disease.
Dharmananda thanked the doctors, nurses and para-medical staff in the hospital for the care they received.
Earlier, several senior citizens above 80 and 90 years had recovered from the disease following treatment in the SUM Covid Hospital during the first and second wave of the pandemic.
