Odisha Farmers To Get MSP For Kharif Paddy Within 48 Hours Of Selling
Bhubaneswar: With paddy procurement gaining momentum in Odisha, the state government has announced that the farmers will get money credited to their bank accounts within 48 hours of selling their produce at the mandis.
Official sources said that the state government has appointed officials at different levels to monitor and oversee the entire process of procurement and ensure that the farmers get the money within the set timeframe of 48 hours.
Officials have been instructed to ensure that the registered farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their Kharif paddy within 48 hours of its sale. The money will be credited directly to their bank accounts.
Necessary arrangements have also been made to address the grievances of the farmers and safeguard their interests. The Food Supplies department is ensuring the same.
A digital platform has been launched to facilitate these transactions and ensure accurate and timely disbursal of MSP through thorough instant verification of farmers’ bank account details.
Soon after all the documents are validated, the money will be credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts within 48 hours.
The move to fast-track MSP disbursal comes after the Union government’s recently announced price hikes for wheat and other mandated Rabi crops for the Marketing Season 2025-26.
While wheat saw an increase of Rs. 150 in its MSP from an earlier Rs. 2,275 to a new Rs. 2,425, Barley was hiked by Rs. 130. Meanwhile, other harvests like gram have risen by Rs. 210, masoor by Rs. 275, mustard by Rs. 300, and Safflower by Rs. 140.
