Bhubaneswar: An abandoned newborn boy was rescued from Prasanti Express at Khurda Road railway station in Odisha.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued the newborn from a general bogie of the train after being informed by some passengers, sources said.
Some passengers in the train spotted the newborn in one of the bogies and informed the RPF.
The RPF personnel rescued the baby and contacted the Khurda Child Welfare Committee. The newborn was later handed over to Childline.
As per preliminary probe, a woman had delivered the baby and abandoned him in the train.
A case has been registered in this connection while further probe by the RPF is underway.
