New Delhi: The body of the soldier who was abducted from the forests in Anantnag districts by terrorists was recovered on Wednesday from Kazwan forests. Two Territorial Army soldiers were abducted from Shangus in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district during operational reece on Tuesday. One of them managed to escape from the captivity and inform the authorities.
After receiving the information of abduction, security forces including Indian Army and JK Police launched a search operation in the area.
Later, the bullet-ridden body of the kidnapped soldier, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, was recovered from Anantnag’s Pathribal forest area on Wednesday, sources said. The incident came a day after the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election results.
A massive operation has been launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir to track the terrorists involved in the incident.
In a post on X, India TV journalist covering Defence and National Security, Manish Prasad, on Wednesday, said, “Body of Soldier of TA Battalion with bullet wound recovered from Kazwan forest, #Kokernag. Yesterday approx at 12 PM, he was abducted by terrorists during operational reece duty. Salute to his Bravery Nayak rank jawan of #IndianArmy.”
Another journalist shared on X, “Suspected #militants killed a Territorial army soldier who was abducted from #forest area of #Shangus, body has been found at Songlan Pathrebal forests today and have bullet marks. Police has started investigation.”
The Army is yet to share details on this matter.
