About 50,000 Odia Migrant Labourers To Return To Jajpur After Lockdown 2.0

Jajpur: The Jajpur district administration on Wednesday said that about 50,000 migrant Odia labourers are expected to return to the district after the lifting of the second-phase lockdown on May 3.

Talking to the media here, District Collector Ranjan Kumar Das said that till date, more than 32,000 migrant workers have registered online for their return to the district.

“To keep these workers in quarantine for 14 days, the district administration has kept 436 government quarantine centres ready. As about 20,000 more workers are willing to return to the district, arrangements are being made to open more quarantine centres,” he added.

The Collector said that out of 19 COVID-19 patients identified in the district so far, one patient has been completely cured while of the remaining 18 patients, one is undergoing treatment at the Ashwini COVID Hospital in Cuttack and 18 have been admitted to the COVID hospital in Kalinganagar. “Of the 19 patients, one is linked to Nizamuddin and the remaining are linked to West Bengal,” he pointed out.

He said that the district administration has identified 1200 workers who have returned from West Bengal and conducted the sample test of more than 600. Efforts are on to trace the remaining workers, he said.
