Bhubaneswar: The active tally surged past 7,000 on Thursday as Odisha reported 1,196 fresh infections in the past 24 hours against 1,122 the previous day.
According to the I & PR department, 699 are from quarantine and 497 local transmission cases. Khurda logged the highest of 312 infections followed by Sundargarh (174) and Cuttack (109).

With these cases being detected from 23,078 samples, the test positivity rate stood at 5.18%. Odisha now has 7,093 active cases.
