New Delhi: Covishield maker, and CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII), Adar Poonawala, has closed a deal to buy London’s most expensive house of 2023 for £138 million (Rs 1446 crore approximately). It is a 25,000-square-foot mansion in Mayfair mansion, according to a report in Financial Times.
Poonawala will acquire Aberconway House to “serve as a base for the company and family when they are in the UK,” according to a person familiar with the matter, the report added and also said that Poonawalla has no plans to move to London permanently.
The 1920s mansion will be acquired by Serum Life Sciences, a UK subsidiary of SII. The property comes with an adjoining guest house and access to one of Mayfair’s ‘Secret Gardens’.
Aberconway House is the second most-expensive house ever sold in London – the first being 2-8a Rutland Gate which fetched £210 back in 2020.
Poonawalla has reportedly reached a deal to buy the house from Polish billionaire Dominika Kulczyk.
