Rourkela: With the improvement in air pollution in Rourkela, the regional unit of Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has asked Sundargarh district administration to relax restrictions in the steel city.
Stating that the air quality index (AQI) in Rourkela which was 526 on March 8, has come down to 342 in the last 24 hours, the Board has asked the administration to spray water on the road and allow entry of heavy vehicles, ensure the entry of all goods transport vehicles with tarpaulin covers, take stern action against polluting vehicles, allow loading and unloading of raw materials at the railway sidings after spraying water on the approach road and spray adequate water on busy thoroughfares and at construction sites.
The Board also asked the administration to allow normal functioning of schools without any sports activities.
Apart from this, it also asked the administration to enforce the restrictions on the polluting industries until the improvement in the situation.
