Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway has decided to give a portion of May’s salary to its staff in Puri and Khurda Road as ‘advance’ to tide over their financial crisis in the wake of Cyclone Fani.
The advance for the month, amounting to approximately Rs 10,000 each will help them carry our repair work and meet other expenses arising out of dislocation, transportation etc, said a senior railway official.
“This will serve as a healing balm for the staff in these trying times when there is a cash crunch,” the official said.
