After Demanding CBI Probe In Sushant’s Case, Rhea Calls It Illegal Now!

Mumbai: Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, who had earlier appealed to Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry into the case, is now calling the transfer of the case to CBI illegal.

According to a report in NDTV, Rhea on Thursday said that the CBI should stay away from the case until the Supreme Court hears her plea and gives it verdict on it.

An investigation by the CBI at this point will be “totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the federal structure of the nation,” Rhea was quoted as saying by NDTV.

“The Bihar Government transferred a case with which it had NO Jurisdiction to investigate, to CBI instead of The Mumbai Police,” her statement read.

“The SC has directed all parties to file their replies and Mumbai Police is directed to place the report of investigations. Pending the said proceedings the CBI has registered (case) and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police. CBI being a premier investigative agency in the country should desist from taking any further steps pending the SC proceedings,” she said in her statement.

After Sushant’s father filed an FIR against Rhea at Patna for abatement of suicide, the actress moved the SC seeking transfer of the case from Patna to Mumbai.

This led Sushant’s father and the Bihar government to file a caveat in the top court to hear them first.

Meanwhile, the Bihar government recommended the case to CBI, and on Wednesday, the Centre approved Bihar government’s recommendation and handed over the case to CBI.

On the basis of the FIR filed by Bihar Police, the CBI on Thursday registered a case against six persons — Rhea, her father Indrajit Chakraborty, mother Sandhya Chakraborty, brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, and Shruti Modi.

The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, wrongful restraint/confinement, theft, criminal breach of trust, cheating and other offences.
