Kalahandi: Rapper Duleshwar Tandi aka Dule Rocker of Kalahandi district on Saturday apologised on Saturday after triggering a controversy by posting a vulgar video on social media.
Earlier, three police complaints were registered against the rapper for a song that is deemed offensive to the dignity of women.
Fondly referred to as Odisha’s ‘Gully Boy’ by his fans, Dule said in a video post, “I feel sorry for using the abusive words in the song. We were enjoying with the friends and someone, among us, uploaded the video wrongly. However, I apologize for the entire incident.”
Notably, Dule had posted the vulgar video song on social media on May 19. The video went viral and three police complaints were lodged against him on Friday.
Kalahandi Youth and Students Council President Abinash Thakur lodged a written complaint against Dule at Bhawanipatna Town police station. Likewise, one Sunil Kumar Munda of Kalimandir Pada lodged a complaint and Kalahandi Kosal Sena registered a complaint at Koksara police station.
Duleshwar Tandi is a Dalit and a migrant worker. This 28-year-old from Odisha’s Kalahandi district has drawn the attention of the people through his rap songs that depict the plight of migrant workers during the lockdown due to COVID-19 in June, 2020.
Those songs touched a chord with the people and have gone viral. He is a science graduate and belongs to Borda village in the district.
