Bhubaneswar: At a time when cricket-crazy Indians are glued to the 15th edition of IPL, State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha has borrowed a concept from the popular T20 league to promote its road safety campaign.
Using an image of an umpire pointing to his watch to signal Strategic Timeout, STA Odisha posted a tweet to impress on the importance of safety first.
This is not the first time STA Odisha has used popular themes to drive its campaign. Last month, STA devised a campaign on road safety using the popularity and success of multi-lingual film RRR.
“There is no strategic timeout for #RoadSafety. Don’t throw away your wicket, play a consistent long innings. On field or off field #SafetyFirst always!” STA tweeted.
Strategic Timeout is a three-minute break that teams enjoy twice during every innings in IPL matches. Not only do players get a chance to cool off with refreshments in this searing heat, fielding captains and batsmen in the middle discuss the match situation with coaches to determine whether any change of plan is needed.
