Berhampur: General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) ‘Agnipath’ scheme is one of major reforms for the country’s defence services.
General Chauhan said this while addressing the Agniveers during a visit to INS Chilika, the premier ab-initio training establishment of Indian Navy for Agniveers on Saturday.
“The implementation of ‘Agnipath’ scheme has been one of major reforms towards maintaining a youthful profile in the Services and nation building by providing skilled, disciplined and motivated youths,” he said.
During his interaction with the Agniveers, he exhorted them to focus on training to become technologically proficient sea warriors. During the interaction, he took on various queries of the Agniveers.
The CDS was briefed on the pivotal role played by INS Chilika in shaping future sea warriors of the Indian Navy. An overview of training activities along with analysis of Agniveer batches trained till date at Chilika was provided.
The CDS took a short tour of the training infrastructure and complimented the faculty for high standards of training for future sea warriors.
