Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) will announce the names of party candidates for Odisha assembly elections after the counting of votes in five states.
Informing this to the media here on Tuesday, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Niranjan Patnaik said they had sent a list of 42 probable candidates to the AICC for the assembly elections in the state scheduled next year. “Considering that the process of the assembly elections in five states is still underway, the AICC has decided to announce the name of the candidates after the counting of votes in these states is completed,” he said.
As per the announcement of the Election Commission for the Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana, polling was held in Chhattisgarh on November 12 while Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram went to polls on November 28. Polling is scheduled in Rajasthan and Telangana on December 7.
Counting of votes for five states will be held on December 11.
