New Delhi: Air India suspended operation of some of its flights to the United States due to deployment of 5G internet there from Wednesday.
The national carrier, which operates its flights to four US destinations with Boeing 777s, in its Twitter handle said some of those flights would be curtailed or revised with changes in aircraft type from Wednesday.
“Due to deployment of 5G communications in the USA, our operations to the USA from India stand curtailed/revised with change in aircraft type from 19th January 2022. Update in this regard will be informed shortly,” the Air India said in a tweet.
The flight operator has suspended its operations from Delhi Airport to San Francisco, Chicago and John F Kennedy.
It has also suspended a Mumbai to Newark flight. However, its flight to Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport will continue as scheduled on Wednesday.
Earlier, several international airlines have curtailed their operations to the US due to deployment of 5G communications in that country. The 5G network deployment might cause certain crucial flight instruments to malfunction, Zee News quoted industry insiders as saying.
