Bhubaneswar: In response to the appeal by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make documentaries or even biopics on revered literary souls, Dubai-based Odia filmmaker Akshay Parija has announced he produce four films on literary legends of the state soon.
Parija will make documentaries on Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja, Prakrutikabi Gangadhar Meher, Byasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati and Ati Badi Jagannath Das.
“This initiative is our first step towards taking a big leap. Though the script and the cast are yet to be finalised, the films will be released on the occasion of Utkal Divas on April 1 this year,” Parija said.
Noted filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda will direct the films.
Panda and Parija have earlier worked together in ‘Kadvi Hawa’, the first-ever Hindi feature film on global warming and climate change. The film has won National Award and screened at 11 international film festivals so far.
Another documentary film on ‘Paika Bidroha’ (freedom struggle by Paikas) by the duo is awaiting release.
