Mumbai: Following a significant spike in coronavirus positive cases in Maharashtra and its capital, 1,305 buildings in Mumbai have been sealed, ANI reported.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a fresh set of COVID-19 guidelines after 2,749 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra, on the other hand, added 6,112 cases.
As per new guidelines, buildings with more than five COVID-positive patients will have to be sealed.
BMC has also doubled the number of marshals deployed in the city to take action against people violating COVID protocols. There will be 300 marshals in suburban trains to ensure that passengers wear masks.
Testing will be ramped up in wards where there is a significant increase in COVID-positive cases.
Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar had earlier warned citizens that another lockdown will have to be enforced if people continue to be casual in following COVID norms.
