Some relief at last! All 266 people who had come in contact with singer Kanika Kapoor have tested negative for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The contact tracing process is also complete, said the health department authorities on Sunday.
Around 60 samples were tested and found to be negative. More samples will be taken if any of the contacts showed coronavirus symptoms.
Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, her son and MP Dushyant Singh, Uttar Pradesh Minister of Medical Health & Family Welfare Jai Pratap Singh, former Union minister Jatin Prasad and his wife Neha had attended a party where Kanika Kapoor was present.
Authorities traced the shops and salons the singer visited. They reportedly said that the contacts being the “cream of Lucknow” followed quarantine instructions immediately.
Kanika had flown down to Mumbai from London on March 9. She arrived in Lucknow on March 11 and was tested positive on March 20. The Taj Hotel in Lucknow where she stayed has been shut.
MP Dushyant Singh was at the same party that Kanika had attended at the Rashtrapati Bhawan hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind after March 15, where many other politicians such as Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Mahendra Singh Pandey were present.
The Lucknow police on Friday had registered a case against Kanika for allegedly hiding her travel details to authorities.
