New Delhi: Crime can take many forms and shapes, some even beyond our wildest imagination.

One such racket, which operated under the name of ‘All India Pregnant Job Service’, was busted in Bihar recently.

Eight people have been arrested in Bihar’s Nawada for allegedly offering Rs 13 lakh to men for impregnating women who could not conceive.

The mastermind and some other accused are still on the run.

Explaining the gang’s modus operandi, police said the accused used to contact men through WhatsApp and social media, offering them an opportunity to earn lakhs in return for their ‘service.’

Those who showed interest were asked to pay a registration fee of Rs 799.

Once a victim registered, the gang showed him some photographs and asked him to ‘choose’ a woman he wished to impregnate.

The men were then asked to deposit a security amount ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000, depending on how ‘attractive’ the woman was.

“The men were told that they will be given Rs 13 lakh if the woman gets pregnant. They were promised a consolation amount of Rs 5 lakh even if they failed to impregnate the woman,” said Nawada SP Kalyan Anand.

The culprits were apprehended after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Bihar Police conducted raids in Nawada.

Mobile phones and a printer were recovered from the premises.

According to Anand, the accused are part of a countrywide cyber syndicate.
