Ambulance Carrying Accident Victim Catches Fire In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: An ambulance carrying an accident victim caught fire on the road reportedly due to explosion of the oxygen cylinder inside it in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Saturday.

According to sources, a man going on a bike was hit by a speeding truck near Betada Bazar on Jamujhadi-Basudevpur road in the district in the afternoon. The locals came to the rescue of the biker and informed 108 ambulance.

The ambulance arrived at the spot after some time and the biker, who had sustained grave injuries in the accident, was taken to the nearest hospital. On the way, the ambulance staff tried to provide oxygen support to the victim as his condition started deteriorating.

At the time, the oxygen cylinder exploded and the ambulance caught fire. Fortunately, the accident victim and the ambulance managed to get out of the vehicle before the fire could spread.

On being informed, Fire services personnel reached the spot and were engaged in extinguishing the fire which had engulfed the entire ambulance. The accident victim was taken to hospital in another vehicle.
