Paradip: A woman was reportedly forced to give birth on a rickshaw trolley as the ambulance failed to arrive on time at her house in Sandhakuda area of Odisha’s Paradip town on Monday
According to sources, the woman experienced labour pain this morning. As there was delay in the arrival of the ambulance and her labour pain getting worse every minute, she decided to go to the hospital in a rickshaw trolley. However, she delivered a baby girl on the way to the hospital on the trolley near Nuabazaar with the help of some local women.
Later, an ambulance from Paradip Port Hospital arrived and transported the woman and the newborn to Atharbanki Community Health Centre (CHC).
“I had called the 108 ambulance but it arrived late. I will never ever forget the trolley rider for the help,” said Sarafat Khan, husband of the woman. A doctor at Atharbanki CHC said that both the mother and the child are in good health.
