Kolkata: The Eastern Zonal Council (EZC) meeting in Kolkata on November 5 is likely to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with his counterparts from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Sikkim will attend the meeting.
Shah is the chairperson of the council. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is its vice-chairperson.
The meeting aims to improve coordination and cooperation among states on a range of issues.
The meeting is likely to take up issues related to border disputes and sharing of river and dam water between states, flood management, deployment of security forces in these states to tackle Maoist terror, coal and mining, fisheries, poultry and livestock, among others.
