New Delhi: For most part of the COVID-19 pandemic, while making phone calls in India, people would be greeted by a caller tune that began with a cautionary note on corona-appropriate behaviour by Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan.
But now, as the country gears up to start the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination drive from Saturday, the mandatory caller tune is being replaced with a one that seeks to educate people about vaccination, India Today reported.

‘New Year, New Hope’
The new caller tune has a female voice and will be used for spreading awareness about the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
“Naya saal COVID-19 ki vaccine ke roop main nayi aasha ki kiran lekar aaya hai (The New Year has brought a new ray of hope in the form of vaccines against COVID-19),” the voice says.
‘Safe & Effective’
The caller tune then adds that vaccines developed in India are safe and effective against COVID-19.
“Bharat main bani vaccine surakshit aur prabhavi hai. Covid ke viruddh humey pratirodhak shamta deti hai (Vaccines developed in India are safe and effective. They will provide immunity against COVID-19).”
‘Made In India’
The new caller tune also emphasises on the ‘Made in India’ aspect of the vaccines that will used in the vaccination drive from January 16.
“Bhartiya vaccine par bharosa karen. Apni baari aane par vaccine zarur lagwayein. Afawaon par bharosa na kare (Have trust in the vaccines made in India and do get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Do not believe in rumours),” the new caller tune adds.
Apart from this, the new caller tune stresses that even though vaccination drive is set to start, people must continue to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour.
Notably, a public interest litigation filed in the Delhi High Court earlier this month had asked for the caller tune with Amitabh Bachchan’s voice to be dropped.
