Koraput: Andhra Pradesh on Saturday made another attempt to woo the villagers on border with Odisha by conducting a free health camp in Koraput district.
According to sources, some health workers from Andhra organised a camp at Galigabadar village under Nuagaon panchayat in Pottangi block of the district. Besides checking the health condition of the villagers, they were found giving medicines free of cost in the camp.
On being informed, the block chairperson of Pottangi, Kalpana Pangi, along with her supporters went to Galigabadar and confronted the Andhra health workers. When Pangi challenged them, an argument ensued and an altercation of words ensued.
A visibly agitated Pangi warned the Andhra workers and threatened them of facing serious consequences for their illegal actions. Following this, the health workers returned to their state, the sources said.
It may be noted that the Andhra government has been making several attempts to lure tribal villagers of Koraput, particularly in Kotia panchayat, with development projects and freebies.
In August, Andhra had even put up a signboard at Dhulipadar village of Kotia carrying messages Andhra Pradesh chief minister.
