Bhubaneswar: The state-level annual flower show at Ekamra Kanan in Odisha capital was opened on Saturday.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and head of Forest Force Debidutta Biswal inaugurated the flower show in presence of other dignitaries.
The flower show, jointly organised by the Regional Plant Resources Centre (RPRC) and Plant Lovers’ Association, will remain open for public for two days. Biswal visited the flower garden, exhibition stalls, Plant Bazaar and selfie point inside the Ekamra Kanan.
As many as 36 agencies and 19 nurseries have opened their stalls to sell samplings, seeds, and ceramic flower pots at the Plant Bazaar.
Several government agencies including Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Directorate of Horticulture, Odisha Forest Development Corporation Limited and NALCO and private agencies like MGM Minerals and SOA University have participated in the flower show.
In the flower garden, several varieties of flowers and plants including rose, marigold, dahlia, chrysanthemum, zinnia, fern, aglonima and palm are on display.
According to official sources, around 15,000 people visited the flower show on the opening day. They were expecting more footfall on the second day as it is a holiday.
